In January 2007, the organisation of the Miss Cantabria pageant decided to strip the winner of the Miss Cantabria title upon discovering that she was a mother. This circumstance gave rise both to a public debate about beauty pageants in general and to a negotiation with the Miss España organisation to resolve the conflict, in which Beatriz Bermejo Villa and BBM Abogados acted in defence of the dethroned contestant, bringing court proceedings that culminated in the amendment of the pageant rules to give it a greater level of equality and respect.
